The ritual of Zanjeer Zani (chain beating) is one of the mourning traditions observed by Muslims for the tragic event of Karbala. It’s practiced during the first ten days of the month of Muharram in Iran. In Iran, participants in chain beating move in an organized manner, one after another, in rows of two or more columns. The procession is led by elders, followed by youth, teenagers, & children. 🏴Nafe’a ibn Hilal Nafe’a was a Quran reciter and one of the companions of Imam Ali (PBUH), and he was with him in three battles of Jamal, Safin, and Nahrwan. He was one of the prominent figures of Kufa who secretly left Kufa before Muslim’s martyrdom. On the day of Ashura, he was captured in the siege of the enemy and then he was martyred by Shimar. One of the findings in Shahr-e Sukhteh (the Burnt City) was a skeleton of a 28-32-year-old woman who had an artificial eye on her skull, which was remained intact after so many years. This artificial eye is a proof of the advanced technology of the city, which was founded in 3200 BC. This woman's artificial eye is made of wax & a kind of animal fat, & its capillaries are made of gold wires with a diameter of half a millimeter.
