#Capule_muqul_e_molayen Drug form: capsule Indications: Effective in treatment of constipation due to melancholic dystemperament, hemorrhoid and fissure accompanied by constipation. Comments: Muqul, commonly named bdellium is the main component of this drug and the particular medication for treating hemorrhoid and disorders of the terminal part of large intestine. Muqul is a resin which is used in all kinds of muqul pills and is effective in treating internal hemorrhoid, bleeding piles, thick flatus in large intestine, clotted blood in intestines, anal fissure, and opening vessels of replete (congested) hemorrhoid piles. This drug can be effective in excreting black bile. Composition: Terminalia chebula, yellow myrobalan, Aloe vera, Rosa damascena, Pistacia lentiscus, Commiphora mukul, Allium roseum Traditional mechanisms of action: purgative of black bile and phlegm; a detergent and unclogging drug; dissolving gases (and flatus) and thick moistures Drug temperament:hot and dry Contraindications: viral or bacterialdiarrhea; severe liver inflammation (such as acute phase of hepatitis C); and fever Side effects: Sometimes, the drug consumption leads to diarrhea and severebloating; in this case the number of pills should be decreased and for severe diarrhea the drug should be stopped and begins 2 days later with lower dosage. Administration and dosage: 1-2 capsules orally at bedtime with Monzej-e-sowda decoction or hot water. This drug can be prescribed for consecutive 3 months; in this case the medication is discontinued several days every month and in this period laxatives such as plum, flixweed seed, and fig are suggested instead of drug. Pregnancy and lactation: No adverse effect has been reported in these two periods. Interactions:It should not be used simultaneously with chemical purgatives and laxatives. In the case of concomitant use of diuretics, the laxative effect of the drug will be reduced. Recommendations: A little bleeding may occur after one to two weeks of medication; this event is useful and due to the opening of vessels of hemorrhoid, and disposal of excessive and unhealthy blood; thus it should not be stopped. If taking two capsules cause stomach cramps and severe diarrhea it is better to use one capsule. Thin and young people should take one capsule before bedtime. It’s better to take the capsule with Monzej-e-sowda decoction to accelerate the drug action. If hemorrhoid is accompanied by burning and itching datura oil should be used topically; it’s better to use topical Kowhan-e-muqul ointment in hemorrhoid with anal pain or induration; and the hemorrhoid accompanied by fissure should be treated with topical apricot kernel oil ointment.
