These studies and their findings led to the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 2014. On the last decade, there has been a growing use of topological data analysis methods in neuroscience and specifically in the brain navigation system. This approach not only led us to a deeper level of understanding about the brain, but also opened up new frontiers. In this session, we will talk about these topics. Also, we talk about the special properties of one the nodes in the brain navigation system, the thalamus, and present some preliminary results about its unique cell properties.
