What I mean by this term is the incomplete understanding that many Muslims have of the religion. This is an Islam mixed with Eastern culture, ignorant values and superstition. 💀 It is a religion in which Jinn stories, rings, black magic and Istikhārah are of immense importance while Tawhīd, prayer, Hijāb and social justice are of secondary value (if, indeed, they be given any value at all). 💅 We often speak about the evils of 'Western Islam' but the reality is that the reason that so many Muslim youth in Muslim majority countries are becoming Westernised is because the Islam that they inherited from their parents and society has been unable to give them answers. It was an Islam in which asking questions was sinful. And a true believer was someone who obeyed without question. Intellect was the enemy of faith. The path of faith was the path of unconditional submission to one's elders. And anyone who dared to differ was a heretic or mischief maker. ⚠️ Therefore I hold 'Eastern Islam' responsible for the Westernisation of many Muslim youth. It was the responsibility of Muslim scholars and preachers to spread the teachings of true Islām and not allow the religion to stray from its original and pure nature. It was the responsibility of the scholars to guide people towards Tawhīd and servitude of Allāh, to elevate their societies, to establish justice and freedom and to oppose the backward, ignorant ways of thinking which have governed Muslim lands for way too long. 🙏🏼 I pray that we be from those who truly fulfil their responsibility towards Allāh, towards Islām and towards humanity. Anything that stands in opposition to Islām needs to be removed, even if that be traditions passed down from our forefathers. A true Muslim's loyalty is only to Allāh and His messenger (ص) and their relationship with anyone besides is determined by that person's relationship with Allāh and His beloved (ص). 📖 Allāh states in the Noble Qur'ān: 🔸لَا تَجِدُ قَوْمًا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ يُوَادُّونَ مَنْ حَادَّ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ وَلَوْ كَانُوا آبَاءَهُمْ أَوْ أَبْنَاءَهُمْ أَوْ إِخْوَانَهُمْ أَوْ عَشِيرَتَهُمْ أُولَئِكَ كَتَبَ فِي قُلُوبِهِمُ الْإِيمَانَ 🔹'You shall not find a people believing in Allāh and the Last Day showing affection towards those who oppose Allāh and His messenger (ص) even if they be their own parents or children or brothers or kinsmen.
