THE WARM WHALE Gail the Whale lived in a small salty lake. She was the only whale in that territory, and she led a very comfortable life. In fact, this easy life made her a bit fussy. But, one year, there was such an incredibly hot summer that the lake's water really warmed up. Gail, used to such an ideal existence, could hardly stand the hot water. A little fish, which had spent some time in a child's goldfish bowl, told Gail that humans used fans to cool themselves down in summer. From then on, Gail the Whale couldn't think of anything else apart from how to build her very own fan. Everyone told her that she was overreacting, and that the hot weather would soon pass, but Gail got to work, constructing her enormous fan. When it was finally finished, she started fanning away at herself. Unlucky for the fish! The giant fan beat the little lake's waters so strongly that huge waves rolled right across it. The waves crashed onto the lakeshore, leaving the lake half empty, and Gail stranded in only a few inches of water. "You couldn't just hang on for while. You had to empty the lake," some unhappy-looking fish berated her. "So impatient! So selfish!" others shouted. But the worst of it for Gail was not the insults, but the fact that with so little water around her, the heat was becoming unbearable. Preparing herself to die of heatstroke, she said her goodbyes to all her friends, and they asked for her forgiveness. She assured them all that if she were to live again she would be stronger and learn to put up with life's discomforts. Yet, once again, Gail the Whale was overreacting. She managed to survive those hot days without dying, although, of course, she suffered. When the next rains arrived, the lake filled up again, and the weather improved. Naturally, Gail had to keep her promise, and show everyone that she had learned not to be so dependent on comfort, so impatient, and so fussy. #Reading #Short_story 🔹@English_4U🔹

A frail old man went to live with his son, daughter-in-law, and a four-year old grandson. The old man's hands trembled, his eyesight was blurred, and his step faltered. The family ate together nightly at the dinner table. But the elderly grandfather's shaky hands and failing sight made eating rather difficult. Peas rolled off his spoon onto the floor. "We must do something about grandfather," said the son. I've had enough of his spilled milk, noisy eating, and food on the floor. Since grandfather had broken a dish or two, his food was served in a wooden bowl. Sometimes when the family glanced in grandfather's direction, he had a tear in his eye as he ate alone. Still, the only words the couple had for him were sharp admonitions when he dropped a fork or spilled food. در آنجا پدربزرگ به تنهایی غذا می خورد در حالی که بقیه اعضای خانواده از شام خوردن سر میز لذت می بردند. از آنجایی که پدربزرگ یکی دو ظرف را شکسته بود، غذای او در یک کاسه چوبی سرو می شد. گاهی که خانواده به سمت پدربزرگ نگاه می کردند،همانطور که تنها غذا می خورد اشک در چشمانش جاری می شد . با این حال، تنها کلماتی که این زوج برای او می‌گفتند، نصیحت‌های تندی بود که هنگام انداختن چنگال یا ریختن غذا می کردند The four-year-old watched it all in silence.One evening before supper, the father noticed his son playing with wood scraps on the floor. The four-year-old smiled and went back to work. کودک چهار ساله آنها همه را در سکوت تماشا کرد. یک روز غروب قبل از شام، پدر متوجه شد که پسرش با تکه های چوب روی زمین بازی می کند. با لحن شیرینی از کودک پرسید داری چی درست می کنی؟ پسر با همان شیرینی جواب داد: "اوه، من دارم یک کاسه کوچک برای شما و مامان درست می کنم که از وقتی بزرگ شدم غذاتون را توش بخورید." کودک چهار ساله لبخندی زد و بسر کار برگشت The words so struck the parents that they were speechless. Then tears started to stream down their cheeks. Though no word was spoken, both knew what must be done. That evening the husband took grandfather's hand and gently led him back to the family table. این سخنان آنقدر بر والدیننش تأثیر گذاشت که زبانشان بند آمد. بعد اشک روی گونه هایشان جاری شد. هر چند حرفی زده نشد، هر دو می‌دانستند چه باید کرد. آن شب شوهر دست پدربزرگ را گرفت و به آرامی او را به سمت میز خانواده برد For the remainder of his days he ate every meal with the family. And for some reason, neither husband nor wife seemed to care any longer when a fork was dropped, milk spilled, or the tablecloth soiled. در بقیه روزهایش غذاییش را با خانواده می خورد. و بنا به دلایلی، به نظر می‌رسید که نه زن و نه شوهر دیگر اهمیتی نمی‌دهند که چنگالی بیفتد، شیر بریزد یا سفره کثیف شود Children are remarkably perceptive. Their eyes ever observe, their ears ever listen, and their minds ever process the messages they absorb. If they see us patiently provide a happy home atmosphere for family members, they will imitate that attitude for the rest of their lives. The wise parent realizes that every day that building blocks are being laid for the child's future.

کودکان به طرز قابل توجهی ادراکی هستند. چشمان آنها همیشه مشاهده می کنند، گوش هایشان همیشه می شنوند، و ذهن آنها همیشه پیام هایی را که جذب می کنند پردازش می کند. اگر ببینند ما با صبر و حوصله فضای خانه شادی را برای اعضای خانواده فراهم می کنیم، تا آخر عمر از این نگرش تقلید می کنند. والد عاقل متوجه می شود که هر روز آن بلوک های ساختمانی آینده کودکش را می چیند Let us all be wise builders and role models.
