The Anti-Depressant Which Had Four Legs And Went Moo!
South African psychiatrist Derek Summerfield was in Cambodia when he heard a curious story.
He was explaining to the local doctors about antidepressants. His Cambodian counterparts told him they did not need chemical antidepressants.
They told Summerfield about a rice farmer whose leg was blown off by a land mine. He got an artificial limb and returned to work in the rice fields. He was in a lot of pain and highly anxious. He sank into a deep depression.
His doctors talked to him about his problems and then came up with a creative solution to lift his mood. They bought him a cow and suggested he become a dairy farmer. It worked wonders. His depression lifted. The Cambodian doctors told Summerfield the cow was his antidepressant.

One of the world’s most famous 20th century psychics, Edgar Cayce was born the son of a farmer in 1877. At the age of seven, Cayce was almost knocked out when hit by a baseball. In a semi-conscious state he told his parents to prepare a strange concoction. He then asked them to rub it into a space between his head and neck. His parents humored their son but his strange medicine worked. In the morning he had made a complete recovery.
Cayce was a poor student. As a young boy, he claimed to have a vision of a woman with wings who told him that, “If you can sleep a little, we can help you.” Falling asleep with a schoolbook as a pillow, he claimed to wake up having learned everything inside the book.

In 1922, Albert Einstein was staying in a hotel in Tokyo. Without any money to tip a hotel deliveryman, he instead gave him a couple of notes on hotel stationery about happiness and success. While the man was probably unable to read the advice, he recognized their value and held on to them. In October of this year, the deliveryman’s nephew sold the notes for 1.3 million dollars.

It started on a dark, dark night in Seaburgh. Do you know Seaburgh? It's a small English town near the sea. There's a train station near it, and there are some houses and shops. There's one small hotel. The beach is good and long, but the sea is usually very cold. (That isn't a problem for me. I don't like swimming!)
I was at the hotel there with my friend, Henry Long. It was cold that April, and there weren't many people in Seaburgh. That was good for us because it was quiet.
It was a good holiday. Every day, Long and I walked near the sea. In the evenings, we liked to sit in the hotel and talk.

When the giant went away for seven years, the children played in his garden every afternoon on the way back from school. It was a large and lovely garden. Beautiful flowers grew in the grass, and there were twelve fruit trees. In the spring, the fruit trees were covered with red and white flowers, and later in the year wonderful fruit grew on them. The birds sang sweetly in the trees. Sometimes, the children stopped their games and listened to them. "we are so happy here!" they said.
Then, one day, the giant came back. He saw the children playing in his garden. "What are you doing here?" he shouted in a very loud voice. The children ran away.
"My garden is my garden," said the gaint. "No one can play in it. Only me." So he built a high wall round it and put up a notice: KEEP OUT. He was a very selfish giant.
